Intuition: can’t live with it, can’t live without it!
I had the immense pleasure of being in Chicago last weekend to attend the “Celebrate Your Life” event there, and conduct a number of interviews for Wake Up TV!
I know, I know. Last week I told you I didn’t know what was happening with the show and that status hasn’t changed at the time of writing this blog post. But, when we DO get back on the air, you will have the opportunity to see the amazing interviews I was able to capture with incredible legends like Neale Donald Walsch, Micheal Beckwith, Caroline Myss, Dr. Joe Dispenza, and many more.
Caroline Myss was a particular highlight for me. I originally bought her book “Anatomy of the Spirit” back in the 90’s and also bought copies for a couple of friends who had cancer. It was the first book I read that explained the mind/body/spirit connection in a very compelling and easy-to-understand way.
Also, Caroline has a reputation of being a straight shooter who doesn’t suffer fools. I was looking forward to interviewing someone who might be a challenge so I would have to be sharp and on my toes.
So, of course I set about doing my due diligence to see what Caroline is up to this century so I could be ready with some intelligent questions to dazzle her with.
Well, what I discovered really stunned me.
On my researching journey on “The Google”, as I humorously call it, I came across a clip on YouTube of Caroline being interviewed by Oprah on Super Soul Sunday.
Damn! No pressure! Now I have to measure up to the Queen herself!
Sorry, I digress. Measuring myself against Oprah is not the part that’s stunning.
What “slapped me upside the head” was a statement Caroline made about intuition.
She said: “Intuition is the source of our greatest suffering.”
I thought: “Wait, what?” Just as Oprah said: “Wait, what?”
If you’re a little perplexed like Oprah and I were, she went on to explain that deep down on a soul level, we all know what we should be doing but often times we don’t. We stay in that relationship too long, we eat the food that’s not healthy for us or we know we should leave the soul-sucking job, but we don’t.
Whoa.
I instantly started scanning my life (maybe like you are doing now too) to see where this may be true for me. I mean, I check in every morning as I’m waking up and still in theta brain activity to ask for guidance and direction, and to hopefully tap into a solution to a challenge from the previous day.
I trust my inner voice and can proudly say I act upon the “hits” I gratefully receive.
See, we all have intuition. We all have that voice inside us, that gut feeling that tells us what we should do.
Do you trust that voice of reason?
Granted most of the time what we know we should do scares the bejeezus out of us. It’s the road less travelled. It’s that hard choice we don’t want to face the challenge of.
But, if we follow our intuitive hits, they also lead us to the road toward a life of happiness, fulfillment and contentment.
The problem is when we live inauthentically like this, and lie to ourselves that “he really does love us deep down”, “that it’s just one piece of cake”, or that “this soul-sucking job is not that bad and at least I have a job, I’m lucky”. We are marching toward a slow death and gradually making ourselves sick.
All those negative toxins have to go somewhere.
So, where can you step up in a more authentic way and follow your gut instinct? Is there a decision or choice you may have been avoiding because this option is too scary to think about?
I say now is the time to stop the suffering and take the bold step into what will ultimately lead you to a life beyond your wildest dreams.
After I interviewed Caroline, not only did I serendipitously end up enjoying lunch with her, but I also had the pleasure of being in her presentation. So let me leave you with her parting statement:
“This day of my life will never come again.” So, seize the day and live it to its fullest!
Booyah!
