The Million-Dollar Question
To me, the Million-Dollar Question is that question people ask you that you can’t really answer, or sometimes don’t want to answer, but nevertheless is constantly asked of you.
This question changes of course, depending on what’s happening in my life and which project I am working on.
So, my current Million-Dollar Question is: “What’s happening with your TV show?”
For those of you who may have blinked and missed my show on cable, it’s called Wake Up TV! It’s a consciously aware talk show where my 3 co-hosts Zhena Muzyka, Betsy Chasse, Cindy Ertman and I only discuss subjects that will help and empower women. Subjects like: “Is balance achievable?”, “How does love and fear show up for you?” or “How has parenting changed?”
Our guests were awesome people like Jack Canfield, Lisa Nichols, Don Miguel Ruiz, Maria Whalen, Kyle Cease and more.
We had 4 episodes air on the POP Cable Network, and our first show attracted a viewership of 40,000 households, which is a major achievement considering there was no promotion from the network itself and all promotion was generated from our collective online influence.
So, when I’m asked: “What’s happening with your TV show?” to be honest, I don’t have a definitive answer.
The explanations I get from the producers are vague, mainly because they aren’t sure either. I know there is a lot of activity on behalf of the producers and they are doing their best. But of course, they need to keep their cards close to their chest in regards to any negotiations and potential leads.
I mean, this is show biz and the nature of the beast…apparently. Not that I would know, because I know less than nothing about this industry.
Hhhmmm... And that reminds me a little of my situation at the beginning of my Mind Movies journey, knowing less than nothing about the internet.
I’m taking this as a good sign.
I find myself scrambling to supply an answer that sounds plausible to the myriad of well meaning friends who genuinely want to know what’s happening with the show. I respond with answers like: “Currently, we are on a break.” Or “The show is being shopped to the networks right now”, or simply “I don’t really know.” Like all experiences in my life, I’m choosing to acknowledge the lesson here.
Then, what is my choice? To me, there is only one: surrender.
When I teach Law of Attraction or any success principles, I find this is an extremely important step that is often overlooked or missed altogether.
You see, with LOA we get lulled into a sense of security and control. We believe that, if we are clear about what we want, visualize that reality with emotion daily and also take action toward that goal, we will make it happen. And, in many cases, that is true.
But, how many times have you diligently completed the practices listed above to either have it beautifully show up in a completely delicious, juicy way you never thought was possible or not have it manifest at all?
This is because we’re not the ones in charge, regardless of how much we think we are The Masters of The Universe. The delicious, juicy version happens for me all the time because I know that when I surrender to the magical power of The Universe, things will manifest for me in a way I couldn’t have dreamed of in a million years.
Okay, let’s look at it this way:
The “upside” to my Wake Up TV! jaunt is that it is an incredible TV experience where I get to show up authentically as myself, and hopefully positively influence a few of the 40,000 viewers that tuned in.
I have faced my fears and doubts of not being “good enough” for TV, and proved to myself that I can hold my own in a high stressful situation of TV filming. So, in essence I have expanded, improved and elevated myself beyond the point I was before Wake Up TV!
The “downside” to this experience is…um…wait…huh…I can’t really think of one. So, even though I’m in this space of limbo and cannot definitively answer my current Million Dollar Question, I have released the outcome and surrendered to whatever is going to show up.
If the show gets picked up great! If not, great! Am I still watching my Mind Movie about the show? Yes.
Am I still visualizing and feeling exactly what it feels like to be on set in front of the camera showing up real, raw and vulnerable so as to give permission to other women to do the same?
Yes.
Is there anything else I can physically do to push this along? No.
So, I surrender to whatever will show up, knowing that what will show up will be exactly what is supposed to.
It could be Wake Up TV!, it could be another show, it could be a movie or documentary or, it could be none of the above. Either way, it’s “all good in da hood”, and I’m way in front of the game.
Yes, we can influence the direction our lives are heading and our outcomes to a certain extent through our spiritual and success practices. BUT, to truly experience a result far beyond your wildest dreams, we have to concede The Universe is really the one in charge.
Thank God!
